Gilgal

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Gilgal helps you record sermons, write notes about them, read the Bible and keep a journal on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. This policy explains what happens to your information.

What stays on your device

iCloud

If you're signed in to iCloud, Gilgal saves your sermons (including the audio), notes, journal and highlights to your own private iCloud account so they survive a new device and appear on your other Apple devices. We can't see this data. You can turn it off in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Apps Using iCloud.

Circles

Circles are private groups you create and invite people to through iCloud sharing. When you share a sermon to a circle, its title, summary, verses, takeaways and action, plus any reflections members add, are stored in the circle owner's iCloud and visible only to the circle's members. Apple handles sign-in; Gilgal has no accounts. You can leave or delete a circle at any time, and you can report a post to us from inside the circle.

Writing your notes

To write a summary, verses, takeaways and discussion questions, Gilgal sends the sermon transcript (text only, never the audio) to Gilgal's notes server, which passes it to Anthropic's Claude API and returns the notes. We don't store transcripts, attach them to your identity, or use them for advertising. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms and privacy policy and does not train its models on this data. If the notes server is unavailable, Gilgal writes simpler notes on your device instead.

Purchases

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Notifications

Daily reading reminders and "Carry it this week" nudges are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off in Gilgal's Settings or in your device's Settings.

What we don't do

No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no selling of data, no analytics SDKs.

Children

Gilgal isn't directed at children under 13.
